CHEM-NOVUS™ for Industry
Fast, precise and visible volumetric pipetting and measurement
In industrial chemical analysis, the specification of the measuring instrument is only part of the story. The reliability of results also largely depends upon the operator’s ability to see, control and reproduce what the instrument is actually doing.
This is where CHEM-NOVUS™ is fundamentally different.
The CHEM-NOVUS range — B U R E T T A™, R A P I D O™ and M E T R O L O™ — has been developed around positive-displacement volumetric measurement, with particular attention to the practical interaction between the operator and the instrument, by provision of a syringe-like dispensing system.
What you see is what you measure
Modern laboratory pipettors can be highly sophisticated and expensive instruments. Yet their very sophistication can conceal what is happening during the measurement. An incorrect setting, an imperfect seal, an unnoticed operating error or a problem with the instrument may produce a result that appears entirely normal to the operator.
This can create a silent failure: an erroneous result that is not obvious until the consequences emerge.
For laboratories operating under demanding quality systems, this is more than an inconvenience. Analytical results underpin decisions, product release, quality assurance and the laboratory's professional reputation. Laboratories undergoing regular assessment must be able to demonstrate confidence in the validity of their testing processes and results.
CHEM-NOVUS takes a different approach.
We do not advocate that graduated pipettes can replace pipettors for high volume throughput. However, having eliminated many of the drawbacks to pipetting that spurred on the development of pipettors in the first place, we have moved serological pipetting to a position where it should be considered for performing highly sensitive analysis when both speed and certainty are crucial.
Its operation is designed around a WYSIWYG principle — “what you see is what you get.”
Making precision easier to achieve
An instrument may have excellent specified accuracy, but the practical precision achieved in a laboratory depends upon much more than the specification on the equipment.
Meniscus reading parallax error, liquid control, handling technique, cleanliness, viscosity, speed and operator-to-operator variation can all influence the result.
CHEM-NOVUS equipment is designed to reduce these sources of variability. Positive-displacement operation, direct volume indication and controlled mechanical movement make measurements easier to see, understand and reproduce.
The Chem-novus objective is not simply to provide an accurate instrument, but to make accurate measurement easier for the operator to achieve consistently – precision with speed.
This is where Chem-novus equipment differs from the traditional pipette + controller approach.
Protecting the laboratory's reputation
For an industrial laboratory, reliable results are part of its reputation. Your laboratory may invest heavily in accreditation, quality systems, calibration and highly trained personnel, yet a relatively simple liquid-handling error can undermine the validity of an analytical result.
By combining precision with speed chem-novus equipment enables you to safeguard your reputation, while still maintaining efficient work volumes.
High analytical standards without unnecessary cost and complexity
The fundamental characteristics of Chem-novus equipment are precision - speed – simplicity; liquid handling developed to reduce equipment cost, simplify routine work and minimise the disruption and expense associated with fragile glassware and complex equipment.
A pleasure to use
After working with conventional pipettes and their often cumbersome fillers or controllers, many operators will find CHEM-NOVUS equipment remarkably easy and natural to use.
Its ergonomic design, direct mechanical control and secure liquid containment make the measuring procedure more comfortable and less demanding. The operator can see and control what is happening throughout the measurement, without having to coordinate a separate filler or rely on an unseen mechanism.
The result is a more relaxed, confident and controlled procedure — particularly valuable when measurements are repeated throughout the working day.
Tools that are a pleasure to use are few and far between. CHEM-NOVUS instruments are designed to be among them.
